Dear Colleagues,

as the current Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw, I am very glad and very honoured to welcome all the participants of 26th European Conference on Parallel and Distributed Computing (Euro-Par 2020).

I feel proud that Warsaw has been selected as the conference venue. I do believe that this a deliberate choice, due not only to the fact that Warsaw is a vibrant and dynamic city (I certainly do regret that the current Covid pandemic has excluded your possible standard personal experiences of that; this has to be postponed to better times) but, among other factors, also to the strength and dynamical growth of the Institute of Informatics of our University, one of the "islands of excellence on the map of Polish science", as a Newsweek journalist put it several years ago.
